Conductor Joins Meta as AI Coding Expansion Accelerates

Meta has acquired Conductor, a startup that coordinates multiple AI coding agents across parallel workspaces. The company plans to introduce a new interface in early 2027, while Conductor Cloud will shut down on November 20.

Conductor joins Meta after the technology giant acquired the AI coding startup, which helps developers manage multiple coding agents across separate workspaces. The deal expands Meta’s developer tools as the company increases its investment in autonomous software development.

Axios first reported the acquisition on November 4, 2026, and Conductor later confirmed it. Financial terms were not disclosed. The startup also announced plans to discontinue its cloud service later this month.

Conductor Joins Meta With Multi-Agent Coding Technology

Conductor, founded in 2024, allows software engineers to deploy multiple AI coding agents into parallel workspaces. Developers can assign separate tasks to agents while maintaining control over their projects.

The platform supports cloud-based, local and mobile workflows. Rather than developing its own AI models, Conductor integrates coding agents from providers including Anthropic and OpenAI. Its core product launched in summer 2025.

The acquisition gives Meta access to technology designed to coordinate AI agents across development tasks, adding multi-agent workflow expertise to its artificial intelligence operations.

Conductor Founder Outlines Plans for New Interface

Conductor founder and CEO Charlie Holtz confirmed the acquisition in an announcement published Wednesday. He said the team is preparing a new interface that customers can expect in early 2027, though it did not disclose specific features.

In a separate post on X, Holtz expressed enthusiasm about working with Alexandr Wang, Meta’s chief AI officer, and Nat Friedman, head of product at Meta Superintelligence Labs.

Conductor Cloud Will Shut Down November 20

Conductor confirmed through its official product changelog that its cloud service will shut down November 20, 2026. The company will begin deleting cloud user data following the closure.

Existing customers can continue using Conductor’s core features during the transition, apart from the discontinued cloud service. The current product is expected to remain functional until early 2027, when the company plans to introduce its next interface.

Meta Strengthens Its AI Coding Strategy

The acquisition follows Meta’s broader efforts to strengthen its artificial intelligence capabilities. In August 2026, the company introduced Muse Code, an AI coding agent designed to work with large software codebases.

Meta has also reported significant adoption of its Muse AI products, including 10 million U.S. downloads within 40 days. Its previous AI-related acquisitions include Moltbook, an AI agent-focused social platform.

As Conductor joins Meta, the startup brings technology focused on coordinating multiple coding agents rather than building foundation models. However, Meta has not disclosed how Conductor’s technology will integrate with its existing products.

For Conductor customers, the immediate concern is the November 20 cloud shutdown. Details about the planned replacement interface, including its availability and functionality, have not been announced yet.
