Amazon Launches New Fire TV Stick 4K With Redesigned Remote Control

Amazon’s new Fire TV Stick 4K brings faster performance, USB charging support, and a redesigned remote with improved controls.

Amazon has introduced a refreshed Fire TV Stick 4K with faster performance, a slimmer design, USB power support through compatible TVs, and a redesigned remote focused on everyday usability.

The biggest change is the new remote, which addresses several frustrations found in previous versions with improved button placement, a more comfortable shape, and controls designed for easier use in dark rooms.

A Redesigned Remote Takes Centre Stage

The updated remote features a new curved design that makes it easier to hold and aim at the TV. Amazon has replaced the large blue Alexa button with a smaller microphone button positioned on the top right, making it easier to locate by touch.

The home button now has a distinct metallic finish, while the power button is recessed to reduce accidental presses. Amazon has also redesigned the D-pad with a flatter surface and a more tactile centre click for improved navigation.

The remote also adds a customizable Favourites button, allowing users to quickly launch a preferred app or access features such as Closed Captions and Dialogue Boost.

Faster Fire TV Stick 4K Hardware

The new Fire TV Stick 4K includes an updated processor that Amazon says makes it 20% to 40% faster than leading competitors. It comes with 8GB of storage, Wi-Fi 6 support, Bluetooth 5.3, and support for multiple HDR and video formats.

The device supports HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, H.265, H.264, VP9, and AV1 formats, with output options up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second.

The new Fire TV Stick 4K is available through Amazon and joins the company’s existing lineup, including the Fire TV Stick HD, Fire TV Stick 4K Max, and Fire TV Cube.

The device is priced at $59.99 but will launch with a promotional price of $29.99. The upgraded remote will also be sold separately for $14.99 in the U.S.
