Apple Revamps Health App With Health Age, Readiness Score and AI Insights
Apple redesigned its Health app to include Health Age, readiness scores, AI-powered insights, longevity guidance, and optional Quest biomarker testing in the U.S.
Apple has redesigned its Health app with new Apple Intelligence features to make health data easier to understand, including a Health Age calculation, a readiness score, and more personalised guidance.
The updated app introduces a new Insights tab that highlights timely health information and provides assessments based on data collected from the iPhone, Apple Watch and other supported sources.
Health Age compares metrics with your actual age
One of the biggest additions is Health Age, which compares selected health measurements with a user’s chronological age. Apple says the calculation can use information including VO2 max, sleep data and blood biomarkers.
A new longevity tab also evaluates factors such as sleep, movement and heart health to give users a broader view of their overall health. Lab results can also be incorporated into the guidance.
Apple also announced a partnership with Quest that will give users access to a 50-biomarker lab panel for $119. The testing is designed to provide health data that an Apple Watch or iPhone can’t collect directly.
Apple Intelligence powers readiness and guidance
Apple Intelligence will help interpret the data used throughout the redesigned app. The new readiness score combines health and activity information to indicate how prepared a user may be for physical activity that day.
The Insights tab can also provide personalised suggestions based on health trends. Apple gave the example of recommending additional intervals during a morning run to help improve cardiovascular fitness.
The company said the app will provide deeper guidance in areas including fitness and heart health.
New assessments focus on movement
The redesigned Health app will also include movement assessments intended to help users understand how well their bodies are functioning, including people who are ageing or recovering from an injury.
A trainer can demonstrate movements for users to follow during an assessment, with Apple describing the experience as similar to having a coach guide them through the process.
The updated Health app is scheduled to roll out later this year, beginning with U.S. English support.
