Prime Video Revenue Run Rate Reaches Tens of Billions, Jassy Says

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy says Prime Video is profitable and operating at an annualized revenue run rate in the tens of billions of dollars. Strong box office results, popular television series, and growing sports audiences are driving the streaming business’s expansion.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy says Prime Video revenue has reached an annualized run rate in the tens of billions of dollars, making the streaming service profitable. Amazon disclosed this during its third-quarter earnings call Thursday.

Jassy had previously confirmed Prime Video’s profitability in May. However, the latest remarks offer a clearer indication of its financial scale. Amazon did not disclose an exact revenue figure or profit margin.

Prime Video Revenue Grows Alongside Amazon MGM Studios

Amazon’s entertainment business has expanded considerably since its $8.5 billion acquisition of MGM in 2022. Amazon MGM Studios has generated more than $1.2 billion in global box office receipts so far in 2026.

One of its biggest successes is Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling. The science fiction film, based on a novel by Andy Weir, opened in March and became the studio’s highest-grossing theatrical release.

According to The Numbers, the film has earned approximately $684 million worldwide. Another release, Verity, also contributed to the studio’s box office performance.

Not every production delivered similar results. The documentary Melania was among the studio’s less successful theatrical releases, with reports highlighting its disappointing performance.

Reacher and Other Series Attract Millions of Viewers

Prime Video’s television lineup has also supported its growth. Jassy highlighted several popular series, including Carrie, The Summer I Turned Pretty, The Boys, Off Campus, Fallout and Reacher.

Amazon reported that Reacher’s fourth season attracted 66 million viewers worldwide during its first 28 days. Production is underway on Season 5, and the series has already been renewed for a sixth season.

Live Sports Strengthen Prime Video’s Audience

Live sports remain another important part of Amazon’s streaming strategy. Prime Video carries Thursday Night Football, NASCAR, the Masters and UEFA Champions League soccer.

Thursday Night Football has delivered particularly strong results in 2026. Its first six games averaged 17.7 million viewers, according to Nielsen figures Amazon shared. That represents a 16% increase over last season’s full-season average.

The opening doubleheader of NBA on Prime’s second season also attracted more than 2 million U.S. viewers, according to Nielsen.

These results help explain Prime Video’s growing importance within Amazon’s broader business. However, its annualized revenue run rate represents an estimate based on current activity, not confirmed full-year revenue.
