Google Launches Fitbit Air Special Edition With Pokémon Sleep Integration

Google is giving Pokémon fans a new reason to wear a Fitbit with a special-edition Fitbit Air that connects health tracking with the popular Pokémon Sleep game. The company announced the device as part of Pokémon’s 30th-anniversary celebrations, combining wearable technology with a gaming experience centred on sleep habits.

The Fitbit Air special edition works with both Google Health and Pokémon Sleep, allowing users to track activity during the day and monitor sleep patterns overnight.

Pokémon Sleep launched in 2023 and turns sleep into a game mechanic. Players begin with a sleepy Snorlax and earn progress by maintaining sleep routines, with sleep duration and quality helping build “Drowsy Power” that attracts more Pokémon to discover.

Fitbit Air connects health tracking with Pokémon gameplay

The special Fitbit Air edition adds health and fitness data to the Pokémon Sleep experience. The device can track metrics such as daily movement, heart rate, and cardio load during the day, and record sleep duration and quality at night.

Players do not need a wearable device to use Pokémon Sleep, but the app supports several connected devices. According to Pokémon’s smartwatch integration details, users can connect compatible wearables to bring sleep data into the game.

The Fitbit Air is not the first wearable to work with Pokémon Sleep. The platform already supports devices including Apple Watch, Fitbit products, Galaxy Watch, and Google Pixel Watch.

Google expands wearable experiences through partnerships

The Pokémon collaboration gives Google another way to make health tracking more engaging by connecting everyday wellness habits with a familiar entertainment brand.

Google has also partnered with athletes and brands on other special-edition wearable products, including a limited Pixel Watch design created with basketball player Stephen Curry.

The special-edition Fitbit Air is available for preorder at $129 and will begin shipping September 15. Google said the device will be sold through the Google Store and Target.

The standard Fitbit Air costs $99. Google introduced the updated Fitbit Air earlier this year with a slimmer design, improved health and fitness tracking, and an AI-powered coach that provides personalised guidance based on activity, sleep, and wellness data.
