Mecka AI Raises $60M From Sequoia to Train Robots Using Human Motion Data

Mecka AI raises $60 million in Series B funding led by Sequoia Capital, with Nvidia and Microsoft backing its human motion data platform for robot training.

Mecka AI raised $60 million in Series B funding, led by Sequoia Capital, to develop human motion data for training robots. Nvidia, Microsoft’s venture fund M12 and other investors participated in the round.

Founded in 2024, the startup pays people to record everyday activities, including making coffee and repairing cars, using body sensors and smartphones. The recordings provide training data for humanoid robots and other robotic systems.

Mecka AI Focuses on Real-World Robot Training Data

Mecka processes recorded movements and interactions to help robots learn physical tasks. The company is pursuing a model similar to data providers such as Scale AI, Mercor and Surge, which supply human-generated training data for large language models.

In its funding announcement, Mecka outlined plans to develop its robotics data operations. The financing comes as demand for real-world training data attracts additional startups and investors.

Competitors include XDOF, which has reportedly discussed a Series B round at a $1.2 billion valuation. Scale AI and Micro1, originally focused on data services for language models, are also moving into robotics training.
