Nvidia CEO espionage allegations have emerged after a reported US intelligence memo identified a Chinese business executive as a suspected intelligence asset. Alice Huang, an executive at Singapore-based Megaspeed, allegedly developed ties with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to gather information for Chinese intelligence.
According to a New York Times investigation, US officials believe China’s Ministry of State Security recruited Alice Huang. Investigators suspect she sought information about Nvidia’s AI chips and business relationships with China.
US Intelligence Raises Nvidia CEO Espionage Allegations
The intelligence assessment reportedly circulated among senior Trump administration officials. It described Alice Huang’s relationship with Jensen Huang and her suspected connections to Chinese intelligence.
The Financial Times reported that the memo also alleged a personal relationship between the executives. That claim remains unverified, and no public evidence establishes that Jensen Huang knowingly assisted Chinese intelligence.
Nvidia Denies Improper Information Sharing
Nvidia says its CEO routinely meets customers and business executives. The company maintains that these discussions do not involve classified information or protected national security material.
Megaspeed has faced scrutiny over concerns about advanced Nvidia chips reaching restricted Chinese customers. Nvidia says its investigation found no evidence that Megaspeed improperly diverted processors to China.
Republican congressional leaders have requested a briefing with Jensen Huang about the allegations and Nvidia’s safeguards against foreign espionage.
AI Chip Exports Face Additional Scrutiny
A separate New York Times investigation raised questions about US approvals allowing certain Chinese companies to handle Nvidia H200 chips despite potentially concerning business connections.
The findings add to scrutiny of semiconductor export controls and customer verification. However, the reported intelligence allegations remain unproven, and no public evidence shows that Nvidia’s CEO knowingly participated in espionage.
