Instinct Gives Its AI Assistant Its Own Email Address for Autonomous Tasks

Instinct is giving its AI assistant dedicated email addresses, letting the agent create accounts, contact businesses, and manage tasks without relying on a user’s personal inbox.

Founder Noah Shinn announced the feature Tuesday, saying Instinct can use its own email when completing tasks that require account sign-ups, business inquiries or follow-ups.

“For example, Instinct can use its own email to contact a restaurant about a special request, ask a business about availability, or sign up for a service it needs to complete your task,” Shinn wrote on X.

Instinct can manage email-based tasks

The feature is designed to reduce how often users need to intervene with login details or personal contact information. It follows Instinct’s recent partnership with 1Password, which helps the assistant access users’ existing accounts when needed.

Instinct has reserved some email addresses for early users, while others can claim an address through its email service.

Users can also forward messages to the assistant when a task depends on information contained in an email. For example, a customer could forward an order confirmation and ask Instinct to handle a return, allowing the agent to contact support, provide order details and retrieve a return label.

The assistant can also join group email threads or receive long conversations for analysis. It can track unresolved decisions, deadlines, and outstanding tasks, checking back with the user only when it needs additional input.

Instinct expands what its AI agent can do

The email rollout is part of a broader effort to give Instinct more ability to act on a user’s behalf. A recently introduced location-sharing feature lets the assistant understand a user’s current location for tasks such as finding nearby businesses, restaurants, and planning routes.

Users can also ask questions about their location history, including where they parked or which restaurant they previously visited.

Instinct has separately integrated payments through a partnership with Stripe. That integration lets the assistant complete transactions such as booking trips, classes, and appointments, or making purchases.

Giving the agent its own email address extends that model by letting Instinct maintain accounts and communications independently while returning to the user when a decision or approval is required.
