Google Launches AI Voice Features in Gmail, Docs, and Keep

Google is expanding conversational AI across its productivity apps with new voice-based features for Gmail, Docs, and Keep. The Gemini-powered tools let users ask questions, create content, and manage notes using natural-language commands.

Called Gmail Live, Docs Live, and Keep Live, the features were first previewed at Google I/O in May and are now rolling out to users. They are designed to make AI assistance more accessible within everyday workflows.

In Gmail, users can ask a Gemini assistant questions about their inbox instead of manually searching through emails. The feature shows a live transcript while users interact with the AI.

Docs Live helps users create drafts by describing what they want to write. The assistant can also use information from Gmail, Drive, Chat, and the web to help prepare documents. Keep Live works as a voice-powered scratchpad, allowing users to capture notes and create lists through spoken instructions.

Google expands Gemini voice tools

Gmail Live is available for Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers, while Docs Live and Keep Live are available for Google AI Pro and Ultra users. The features are launching in English on iOS and Android, with Workspace Business support planned.

Google has been adding voice AI capabilities across its products, including cross-app dictation on Mac and the Gemini-powered Rambler dictation tool on Pixel 11 smartphones. The company also introduced the Gemini 3.5 Transcribe model for speech-to-text applications.
