Legal AI startup Legora has raised $550 million in a Series E funding round, reaching an $8.8 billion valuation. Atreides Management led the Legora Series E, which will support further expansion across North America.
The company announced that Baron Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners, General Catalyst, Menlo Ventures and other investors participated. Legora develops AI software that helps legal professionals research cases, review documents, draft contracts, and automate complex workflows.
Annual recurring revenue has surpassed $200 million, doubling from the $100 million milestone reported in April. That month, Legora also announced a $50 million extension to its $550 million Series D round. The financing valued the company at $5.6 billion, significantly below its latest valuation.
Legora Series E highlights growing legal AI competition
Legora’s latest financing follows a $550 million raise by rival Harvey in September, which valued that company at $15.5 billion. Harvey previously secured $200 million in March at an $11 billion valuation. That month, the company also reported annual recurring revenue exceeding $200 million.
Both companies are developing AI systems that move beyond answering questions to completing multistep legal tasks. Their products target law firms and corporate legal departments seeking to automate document-intensive work and improve efficiency across legal operations.
Legora says its platform now serves more than 140,000 legal professionals across over 2,400 law firms and corporate legal teams. The United States has become its largest market by revenue.
The company plans to invest in its agentic AI platform and expand its North American operations. Its priorities include developing legal research, automated intake and other workflow tools for professional users.
