TikTok Must Eat is a new restaurant discovery feature that brings popular dining recommendations into one place. Launched Wednesday, the service highlights restaurants gaining attention through videos, posts and community discussions.
TikTok introduced the feature using insights from more than 40 million posts and comments. It aims to help users discover restaurants through recommendations from other people on the platform.
The launch puts TikTok in closer competition with Yelp and Google Maps. However, its approach focuses on social recommendations rather than traditional restaurant reviews and search listings.
How TikTok Must Eat Restaurant Guides Work
Users can browse restaurants by city and filter results by cuisine, price, rating and location. The guides organize recommendations into two dining categories.
Everyday Eats features casual restaurants, neighborhood favorites and popular local spots. Elevated Dining highlights restaurants suited to celebrations, special occasions and upscale experiences.
The feature also integrates OpenTable reservations at select restaurants. This allows users to discover dining options and book participating locations directly through TikTok.
Must Eat Launches in Three US Cities
Must Eat is initially available in New York City, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Users can access recommendations through TikTok’s search bar, Local feed and restaurant pages. Location links attached to participating restaurant videos also connect viewers to the guides.
The rollout builds on TikTok’s role in restaurant discovery, where viral food videos regularly attract customers to local businesses. Must Eat brings those recommendations together in a more structured browsing experience.
