MeBeMe has launched a new mobile app designed to help users replace doomscrolling with small, meaningful actions that support long-term personal growth. Instead of blocking access to distracting apps, MeBeMe encourages users to complete short missions that reinforce the type of person they want to become.

The app joins a growing number of digital wellbeing tools aimed at reducing excessive social media use. However, rather than restricting screen time, MeBeMe focuses on building positive habits through identity-based challenges delivered throughout the day.

Users build habits around personal identities

After setting up the app, users choose one or more identities they want to develop, such as a lifelong learner, scientist, athlete, historian or classics reader. MeBeMe then sends occasional notifications suggesting brief activities that align with those goals.

For example, someone pursuing lifelong learning may be encouraged to watch a seven-minute educational video. At the same time,e users interested in literature could receive suggestions to attend a local book club or lecture. The app currently offers more than 75 identities spanning categories such as mind, body, relationships, cooking and gardening.

Users can select multiple identities simultaneously and decide how frequently they receive reminders, ranging from daily notifications to occasional prompts. A feature called “Break Your Scroll” can also use Siri to read the missions aloud.

Built around privacy and simplicity

MeBeMe officially launched last week and was created by Eric Wolfram, who originally developed the app for his son before discovering it was equally useful in his own daily routine.

"Small actions, repeated over time, shape who you are. Becoming who you are is a lifelong project," Wolfram writes on the company's website.

Privacy is another key feature of the app. MeBeMe does not require users to create an account, stores all personal data on the device and allows anonymous usage data sharing to be turned off.

The app is available as a free download for iPhone users, with an Android version planned for a future release. MeBeMe currently includes no advertisements or subscription fees.
