TikTok Adds Voice Comments, Polls, and Photo Features to Boost User Engagement

TikTok is expanding its comment section with new interactive features designed to give users more ways to respond, share, and engage with content. The platform is rolling out new comment tools, including voice comments, polls, photo carousel comments, and Live Photo comments.

The updates move TikTok’s comments beyond traditional text replies by adding features commonly found in messaging and social apps. The company aims to make comment sections more active spaces where users can have deeper conversations about videos.

Voice comments allow users to record audio messages directly within the comment section. To leave one, users can tap the microphone icon in the comment box and record a message of up to one minute, which other users can tap to listen to after it is posted.

TikTok said voice comments follow the same Community Guidelines as other content on the platform. The company uses a combination of automated systems and human review, including speech-to-text transcription, to identify and remove content that violates its rules.

TikTok expands tools for creators and viewers

Voice comments are rolling out globally over the next month for users aged 18 and older. The company is also expanding comment polls, allowing creators worldwide to add polls when commenting on their own videos.

Creators can use polls to ask viewers questions, collect feedback, or let audiences vote on ideas such as future videos, outfits, or recipes. Each poll can include up to five answer choices, and creators can set a time period while tracking results directly from the comment section.

TikTok is also introducing photo carousel comments, allowing users to add up to nine images in a single comment instead of posting one photo at a time. The feature is rolling out globally over the next month.

In addition, Live Photo comments are now available worldwide. TikTok said the feature lets users share a short burst of motion before viewers open the full image.
