Claude Personal Finance is a new Anthropic tool that lets users analyze spending through connected bank and credit card accounts. Announced November 5, 2026, the feature uses Plaid to provide financial insights without granting Claude permission to move or invest money.
The tool is rolling out in beta to U.S. subscribers on Claude’s Pro, Max and Ultra plans. Users can review transactions, monitor bills and ask questions about their finances using everyday language.
Claude Personal Finance Analyzes Spending and Bills
Users can connect multiple financial accounts and ask Claude to summarize spending across categories such as housing, groceries and shopping. The assistant can compare expenses over time and identify changes in spending patterns.
Claude can also flag potential duplicate charges, unexpected fees, rising bills and recurring subscriptions. Users can request charts, payment calendars, and customizable dashboards to understand their finances better.
The feature supports questions about financial concepts, including annual percentage rates and interest charges. It can calculate how much interest a user has paid based on available transaction information.
Bank Connections Use Plaid With Read-Only Access
Anthropic uses Plaid to securely connect financial accounts. Customers authenticate directly through Plaid, meaning Claude does not receive their banking passwords.
Claude can access account names, types, balances, credit limits and the last four digits of account numbers. It can also review up to two years of transaction history from connected accounts.
Anthropic says it doesn’t use conversations in the Personal Finance hub to train its AI models. Users can disconnect accounts whenever they choose, and the assistant cannot transfer funds, manage investments or execute transactions.
However, read-only access does not eliminate the need to protect sensitive financial information. Users should verify important calculations against bank statements because AI-generated answers may contain errors.
Anthropic Expands Claude Into Specialized Services
The launch follows Anthropic’s expansion into professional applications. Its Claude for Legal offering supports contract review, regulatory analysis and other legal workflows.
The company also provides Claude for Financial Services training, covering applications for financial institutions and industry professionals.
TechAmerica previously reported on Anthropic’s interactive Claude integrations, which allow users to work with connected business applications directly inside the chatbot.
Unlike those professional integrations, Personal Finance focuses on individual consumers. Anthropic says the feature contains no advertising or sponsored financial recommendations and does not offer its own credit cards, loans or savings accounts.
The beta is limited to eligible U.S. subscribers, with access expanding gradually. Anthropic has not announced international availability or support for free accounts.
