Anthropic Launches Interactive Claude Apps for Slack and Workplace Tools
Anthropic has launched interactive apps inside Claude, allowing users to work with Slack, Figma, Canva, Box, and other workplace tools directly within the chatbot.
Anthropic announced on Monday that Claude users can now access interactive apps directly within the chatbot interface via a newly introduced feature.
Staying aligned with Anthropic’s focus on enterprise use cases, the initial set of available apps centres largely on workplace productivity tools. These include integrations with Slack, Canva, Figma, Box, and Clay, with support for Salesforce expected to follow. Once enabled, each app provides Claude with access to a logged-in version of the service, allowing users to perform tasks such as sending Slack messages, creating visual assets, generating charts, or retrieving cloud-stored files, depending on the app.
“Tasks like analyzing data, creating designs, and coordinating projects benefit from dedicated visual interfaces,” Anthropic said in a blog post announcing the update. “When paired with Claude’s intelligence, these tools allow users to work and iterate more quickly than either could on its own.”
The new app functionality is available to subscribers on the Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, but is not included for free users. Eligible users can enable the apps through the directory available at claude.ai/directory.
The rollout closely mirrors OpenAI’s Apps feature, which launched in October and allows interactive third-party tools to operate within its chatbot. Both Anthropic’s and OpenAI’s app systems are built using the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard introduced by Anthropic in 2024. Support for app integrations under MCP began rolling out in November, drawing on collaborative work between the two companies.
The app integrations are expected to become even more impactful when paired with Claude Cowork, an agent-based tool Anthropic introduced last week. Built on Claude Code, Cowork enables users to assign multi-step tasks that can operate across large and unstructured datasets — tasks that previously would have required manual terminal commands. When combined with app access, Cowork could interact with cloud storage or active work projects, such as updating a marketing design in Figma or pulling fresh data from a company’s Box account.
Apps are not yet available within Cowork at launch, though Anthropic said support for that integration is “coming soon.”
Because agent-driven systems can behave unpredictably, Anthropic’s safety documentation for Cowork advises users to supervise the agent and limit permissions as closely as possible.
“Be cautious when granting access to sensitive information such as financial records, credentials, or personal data,” the company said. “It may be best to create a dedicated working folder for Claude rather than providing broad access.”
