Amazon Reportedly Plans to Cut Around 30,000 Corporate Jobs
Amazon is reportedly planning its largest round of corporate job cuts since 2023, with up to 30,000 positions potentially affected across multiple departments. The move comes as the company continues to streamline operations and expand AI adoption across its workforce.
Amazon may be preparing to carry out its largest round of job cuts since 2023.
According to a Reuters report published Monday, sources familiar with the matter said the company could eliminate as many as 30,000 corporate roles beginning Tuesday. The reductions are expected to span multiple areas of the business, including human resources, devices and services, operations, and other teams.
Amazon has not conducted layoffs of this scale since it began cutting 27,000 jobs in late 2022.
In recent years, the company has implemented smaller, targeted reductions across various departments. Most recently, in January, Amazon cut a limited number of roles across its Communications and Sustainability teams.
The reported layoffs follow a recent CNBC report referencing a memo from Amazon CEO Andy Jassy. In the memo, Jassy noted that as Amazon deploys more AI agents across its operations, the company expects to need fewer corporate employees over time.
Amazon did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
