Wispr Flow Prepares AI Meeting Notetaker as Updated Terms Reveal New Features

Wispr Flow appears to be preparing to expand beyond AI-powered dictation with the addition of a meeting notetaker, according to updates made to the company’s Terms of Service and privacy policy.

The startup recently emailed customers about changes to both documents, which now include new sections describing how meeting data will be collected and processed. The updated terms indicate that the forthcoming feature will handle meeting audio, participant information, metadata, speaker labels and transcripts.

According to the revised Terms of Service, the notetaker will generate AI-powered transcripts, summaries, action items, meeting insights, speaker attribution and other meeting-related content.

Expansion into a competitive market

If launched, the feature would place Wispr Flow in direct competition with established AI meeting assistants including Granola, Fireflies, Read AI, Otter and Fathom. The company has not officially announced the product, but co-founder Tanay Kothari has previously discussed plans to build a broader AI assistant.

A meeting notetaker would also give Wispr Flow additional context about users’ conversations, allowing the company to automate more workplace tasks beyond refining dictated text.

Recording approach remains unclear.

It is not yet known whether Wispr Flow will adopt a Granola-style approach that relies on system audio to generate transcripts without storing recordings, or whether it intends to launch a full meeting recording platform.

To date, the startup has raised more than $81 million. The company was valued at $700 million during its previous funding round. At the same time, Bloomberg reported in May that Wispr Flow was in discussions to raise another round at a reported $2 billion valuation.
