Wabi AI Agent raised $55 million in new funding, reaching a $1.25 billion valuation. The investment follows the startup’s shift toward a personal AI assistant that creates mini-apps and helps users manage everyday activities.
IVP led the round, with Andreessen Horowitz, Forerunner, and Amazon Alexa Fund participating. Individual investors included Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, former Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, former Twitter CEO Dick Costolo and musician Alex Pall.
Founded by Eugenia Kuyda, who previously created AI companion startup Replika, Wabi initially focused on building applications through text prompts. The company has since expanded that approach into a messaging-based personal assistant.
Wabi AI Agent Shifts Toward Personalized Mini-Apps
Last month, Wabi introduced its Wabi 2.0 strategy, combining AI conversations with interactive tools generated for specific tasks.
Users can create mini-apps for meal planning, restaurant recommendations, fitness tracking, date nights and trivia games. Users can share, update, and revisit the tools rather than letting them disappear into a chatbot conversation.
The company also envisions AI helping families coordinate schedules, friends organize activities, and couples plan experiences together. Its approach focuses on collaborative tasks rather than individual conversations alone.
Kuyda believes personal AI should combine communication, useful applications and shared experiences. The company says the new funding will support further product development and expansion.
Investors Back Wabi’s Personal AI Strategy
IVP general partner Alex Lim praised Kuyda’s experience developing consumer AI products. He said Wabi offers a different way to interact with artificial intelligence beyond conventional chat interfaces.
In its funding announcement, Wabi highlighted early examples of collaborative use, including shared fitness challenges, restaurant lists and personalized activities.
The investment comes amid growing competition in personal AI assistants. Rival startup Instinct raised $1 billion in September at a $10 billion valuation, reflecting investor interest in agents that can complete tasks.
Unlike traditional chatbots, Wabi aims to generate the interfaces users need while keeping conversations and shared activities connected. Its latest funding gives the startup additional resources to develop that model in an increasingly competitive market.
