A reported Nvidia CEO spy plot prompted U.S. intelligence agencies to investigate whether a Singapore-based technology executive was gathering information for China. The inquiry focused on Alice Huang, also known as Huang Le, and her interactions with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.
According to The New York Times, intelligence agencies monitored Alice Huang for about a year over suspected ties to Chinese intelligence. She worked for Megaspeed, a Singapore-based AI cloud company previously investigated over possible U.S. chip export violations.
U.S. Investigates Alleged Nvidia CEO Spy Plot
Photographs showed Alice Huang attending business dinners with Nvidia’s CEO in Asia. Investigators reportedly feared she could obtain information about Nvidia’s plans and Huang’s efforts to ease U.S. restrictions on advanced AI chip exports to China.
Nvidia defended the meetings as routine business interactions. A company spokesperson said Jensen Huang regularly meets customer executives and that regional cloud clients receive ordinary business information, not sensitive trade secrets or national security information.
Megaspeed Previously Faced Export Control Investigation
In 2025, the U.S. Commerce Department investigated Megaspeed over allegations that it helped Chinese companies obtain restricted Nvidia chips. Alice Huang reportedly served as a senior executive at the company.
The investigation comes amid continuing U.S. restrictions on Nvidia chip exports to China, which have complicated the company’s sales in that market.
The espionage allegations remain unproven. Public reporting has not established that Jensen Huang knowingly shared sensitive information or participated in any intelligence operation.
