X is moving U.S. creator payouts to its own payments platform, X Money, ending the previous Stripe-based payout process for creators.

The company said the change applies to payments from both its Original Content Rewards Program and creator subscriptions. According to X, the new system allows creators to receive payments instantly instead of waiting for scheduled payout cycles.

X announced the payout transition as part of its broader push to expand X Money, a financial services product designed to add payment features directly into the social platform.

X expands its creator payment system

Previously, creator payments were processed every two weeks and required a minimum payout amount. X said the new system removes those delays, allowing eligible creators to access their earnings more quickly.

The move follows changes to X’s creator monetisation programs. The company is retiring its Creator Revenue Sharing Program and shifting creators toward the Original Content Rewards Program, which places more emphasis on original posts.

X Money recently began supporting creator payouts as part of Elon Musk’s plan to turn X into a broader financial platform. The service includes payment features such as instant transfers and other digital banking tools, while user accounts are held through FDIC-insured Cross River Bank.

X said creator payouts will also count toward users’ direct deposit requirements for higher interest rates through X Money. The company’s payment service documentation outlines available account benefits and interest-related details.

The company also said it will issue tax forms for creator earnings. Individuals receiving payouts will receive a 1099-NEC, while LLCs will need to provide W-9 information to support accurate reporting.

X’s creator team shared additional details about the payout changes as the company continues moving more creator-related services into its own financial ecosystem.
