Elon Musk Skydance investment reported at $1 billion

Elon Musk has reportedly invested about $1 billion in Skydance following Paramount’s $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. The investment comes as the newly combined media company pursues $6 billion in cost savings over three years.

The Elon Musk Skydance investment reportedly totals approximately $1 billion, bringing fresh capital to the newly combined entertainment company. Semafor reported the transaction on Oct. 22, citing people familiar with the matter.

The investment follows Paramount’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, completed Oct. 6 in a deal valued at approximately $110 billion. The combined company brings together Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros., Paramount+ and HBO Max.

Co-CEOs David Ellison and Ynon Kreiz oversee the integration. Their portfolio also includes television networks such as CBS, CNN, MTV, TBS, Comedy Central and Food Network.

Musk’s Skydance Investment Supports Restructuring

According to Semafor, Musk contributed his investment around the same time as other Skydance shareholders. Those investors reportedly include board member Laurene Powell Jobs.

The additional capital arrives as Skydance works to strengthen its financial position. The company has announced plans to save $6 billion over three years.

Musk has longstanding ties to Larry Ellison, David Ellison’s father and Oracle’s co-founder. He has publicly praised Ellison, who joined Tesla’s board in 2018 and later contributed $1 billion toward Musk’s Twitter acquisition.

The reported financing provides additional resources as Skydance integrates its entertainment operations and pursues planned cost reductions.

Neither Musk nor Skydance has publicly confirmed the reported investment terms. The companies also have not announced whether the transaction includes a broader commercial partnership.
