Snapchat Launches "Imagine Lens" for AI-Generated Images via Text Prompts
Snapchat introduces the "Imagine Lens" for Snapchat+ Platinum and Lens+ subscribers, allowing users to create and edit images using custom text prompts. Share your AI-generated creations with friends or post them on Stories.
Snapchat has unveiled a new feature called the “Imagine Lens,” allowing users to generate and edit images using a text-to-image AI generator. This new Lens is available exclusively for Snapchat+ Platinum and Lens+ subscribers, offering them a creative way to make personalized images by simply entering text prompts.
The Imagine Lens gives users the ability to create, edit, and recreate Snaps based on their own prompts. Once generated, these images can be shared with friends, posted to Stories, or shared externally. While Snapchat already offers various generative AI Lenses, the Imagine Lens is the first one to allow open text-based prompts.
Users can create images from custom prompts, such as “create an image of a grumpy cat” or “turn me into an alien,” or use pre-loaded prompts like “Turn me into a four- to five-panel comic where something unexpected but heroic happens,” “Make me into a funny caricature,” or “Make this person skydive.” The Lens also allows users to modify prompts at any time by tapping the caption bar.

Snapchat has been advancing its AI capabilities, having introduced a mobile-friendly AI text-to-image research model earlier this year. While the company hasn’t confirmed whether this specific model powers the new Lens, it mentions that the Lenses are built using both in-house and industry-leading AI models.
Subscribers with Snapchat+ Platinum or Lens+ plans can find the Imagine Lens in the front of the Lens Carousel or in the Exclusive category. Once selected, users can tap the caption to edit or input their own prompt. Snapchat+ Platinum subscriptions are priced at $15.99 per month, and Lens+ subscriptions cost $8.99 per month.
Snapchat, a leader in augmented reality (AR), continues to expand its offerings by incorporating AI tools. Earlier this year, the company also launched a standalone Lens Studio iOS app and web tool, making it easier for users to create AR Lenses using AI and simple tools. Furthermore, Snapchat introduced its first video generative AI Lenses in March.
By integrating more AI-powered features into its platform, Snapchat is giving users the chance to unleash their creativity, whether it’s for fun edits or unique content creation.
