Amazon reportedly plans to cut around 30,000 corporate jobs

Amazon could soon implement its most considerable job reduction since 2023, with plans to eliminate up to 30,000 corporate positions, according to a new report by Reuters on Monday.

People familiar with the matter told Reuters that the cuts could begin as early as Tuesday and would impact several divisions, including human resources, devices and services, operations, and other corporate functions.

If confirmed, this would be Amazon’s most considerable workforce reduction since the company cut 27,000 jobs between late 2022 and 2023.

In recent years, Amazon has conducted smaller layoffs across specific departments. In January 2025, the company reduced staff in its Communications and Sustainability teams, following a broader corporate restructuring.

The news follows a CNBC report detailing an internal memo from CEO Andy Jassy, which explained that as Amazon continues to integrate AI agents and automation, the company will require fewer corporate roles in the future.

Amazon has not yet responded to a request for comment regarding the reported layoffs.
