AI video generation startup Higgsfield has raised an additional $80 million through an extension of its previously announced $50 million Series A round, bringing the total Series A financing to $130 million. The company says the new funding values Higgsfield at $1.3 billion.

Higgsfield offers tools that allow consumers, content creators, and social media teams to create and edit AI-generated videos. Alex Mashrabov, the former head of generative AI at Snap, founded the company. Mashrabov joined Snap after it acquired his earlier startup, AI Factory, in 2020 for $166 million. He was a co-founder of AI Factory.

Five months after launching its product, Higgsfield reported reaching 11 million users and said it had become a platform of choice for content creators. Nine months after launch, the company says it has surpassed 15 million users and reached a $200 million annual revenue run rate. According to Higgsfield, that figure doubled from a $100 million trajectory in roughly two months.

The startup claims this level of growth places it ahead of companies such as Lovable, Cursor, OpenAI, Slack, and Zoom, citing figures included in its press release.

As part of its positioning, Higgsfield has emphasised that its platform is increasingly used by professional social media marketers, framing this shift as evidence that adoption has expanded beyond casual content creation.

At the same time, the platform has also been used for more controversial content. Last month, Higgsfield was used to generate a video titled "Island Holiday," which depicted individuals named in the Epstein files alongside fictional characters on a fictional vacation on Epstein's island. Due to the video's offensive content, the company did not link to it. Users also continue to share projects focused on fashion and cinematic-style storytelling.

Investors participating in the Series A extension include Accel, AI Capital Partners, Menlo Ventures, and GFT Ventures.
