AMD Chair and CEO Lisa Su opened her CES 2026 keynote with a clear message about the future of computing: AI for everyone.

As part of that vision, AMD announced a new lineup of AI-focused processors, reinforcing the company’s belief that AI-powered personal computers represent the next significant evolution in everyday computing.

At the annual Consumer Electronics Show on Monday, AMD revealed the Ryzen AI 400 Series, the newest generation of its AI-enabled PC processors. According to the company, the latest Ryzen AI chips deliver 1.3x faster multitasking performance than competitors and 1.7x faster content-creation workloads.

The Ryzen AI 400 Series processors feature 12 CPU cores—the individual processing units within a processor—and 24 threads, enabling multiple instruction streams to run simultaneously.

These processors mark an upgrade from the Ryzen AI 300 Series, which AMD introduced in 2024. AMD originally launched the Ryzen processor family in 2017.

During a press briefing, Rahul Tikoo, senior vice president and general manager of AMD’s client business, said the company has expanded to more than 250 AI PC platforms, up from 125 the previous year.

“In the years ahead, AI is going to be a multi-layered fabric that gets woven into every level of computing at the personal layer,” Tikoo said. “Our AI PCs and devices will transform how we work, how we play, how we create, and how we connect with each other.”

In addition to its general-use AI processors, AMD also introduced the AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D, the latest iteration of its gaming-focused processor line.

“No matter who you are and how you use technology on a daily basis, AI is reshaping everyday computing,” Tikoo said. “You have thousands of interactions with your PC every day. AI is able to understand, learn context, bring automation, provide deep reasoning, and deliver personal customization to every individual.”

AMD said PCs equipped with either the Ryzen AI 400 Series processors or the Ryzen 7 9850X3D gaming chip will begin shipping in the first quarter of 2026.

The company also announced an updated version of its Redstone ray tracing technology, which simulates the physical behaviour of light to improve video game graphics. AMD said the latest Redstone update delivers enhanced visual realism without sacrificing performance or speed.

Together, the announcements highlight AMD’s push to integrate AI deeply into both productivity and gaming experiences as AI-powered PCs become more central to everyday computing.
