John Ternus Begins Apple CEO Role Ahead of Major Product Launch

John Ternus has officially become Apple’s chief executive officer, succeeding Tim Cook after his 15-year tenure. Ternus takes over after serving as Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, where he helped lead the development of major products.

The leadership change comes as Apple prepares for its annual iPhone event on September 9. The company is expected to introduce new devices, including a possible foldable iPhone, while continuing efforts to improve Siri and expand its artificial intelligence capabilities.

Ternus Teases Major Apple Product Launch

In his first memo to employees as CEO, Ternus highlighted Apple’s upcoming product plans. According to Bloomberg, Ternus told staff that Apple has a major launch approaching.

“We have a huge launch next week that’s going to be phenomenal.”

Ternus also pointed to Apple’s longer-term product pipeline, including devices already in development and future products the company may create.

Apple is reportedly exploring new product categories, including camera-equipped AirPods, smart glasses, and a touchscreen Mac. The company’s possible Mac plans have been discussed as part of its broader hardware roadmap, according to PCMag.

Tim Cook expressed confidence in Ternus as his successor, saying the new CEO understands what it takes to create products with global impact.

Ternus’ background in hardware leadership gives him direct experience with Apple’s product development strategy as the company enters a new era focused on devices, artificial intelligence, and future technologies.
