YouTube Releases Its First-Ever Recap of Videos You’ve Watched
YouTube launches its first video-watching Recap with personalised cards, viewing habits, and personality types, rolling out in North America and globally this week.
It’s the time of year when platforms roll out their Spotify Wrapped–style summaries, giving users a look back at the content they engaged with most. While YouTube has offered a YouTube Music Recap for several years, the company announced on Tuesday that it’s now launching a separate recap experience focused solely on videos watched on the central platform.
The new YouTube Recap presents up to 12 personalised cards that showcase a user’s top channels, favourite interests, changes in their viewing habits, and even a personality type based on their viewing patterns.
For example, the “Skill Builder” personality is assigned to viewers who gravitate toward instructional or skill-improving content. “Sunshiners” prefer uplifting, positive videos, while “Trailblazers” seek out original content that pushes boundaries.
Other personality categories include “Wonder Seeker,” “Connector,” and “Dreamer,” among others.
Users will also be able to view their top artists and songs of the year. However, more in-depth music-related insights are still available through the YouTube Music app via the annual YouTube Music Recap, which began rolling out last week.

The Recap feature is now available to YouTube users in North America, with a global rollout scheduled for later this week. Users can access their Recap from the YouTube homepage or from the “You” tab. The experience is available on both mobile and desktop.
YouTube says users frequently requested this feature. The company tested more than 50 different concepts before finalising the new Recap tool.
Alongside the release, YouTube also published trend charts highlighting the year’s top creators, podcasts, and songs.
MrBeast claimed the No. 1 spot for top creator for the sixth consecutive year. For podcasts, “The Joe Rogan Experience” ranked in first place. Meanwhile, Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga secured the top song position with “Die with a Smile.”
YouTube Recap arrives the same day as Apple Music’s Replay and Amazon Music’s 2025 Delivered. Spotify has not yet released its highly anticipated Wrapped, suggesting YouTube and others may be trying to get ahead in the social-sharing moment.
