Google Brings JEE Practice Exams to Gemini for Indian Student
Google has added full-length JEE practice exams to Gemini, offering Indian students AI-powered mock tests, instant feedback, and personalized study plans ahead of the highly competitive engineering entrance exam.
Google is stepping up its push into AI-driven education by introducing full-length practice exams for India's highly competitive Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) within Gemini. The JEE is the nationwide engineering entrance test used to shortlist students for India's top technical institutes and is taken by millions of candidates every year.
The company said students can now attempt complete JEE mock tests directly inside Gemini. The questions are sourced from verified material provided by Indian education platforms PhysicsWallah and Careers360.
The move follows Google's recent rollout of similar exam-preparation tools for the SAT, signaling a broader strategy to position Gemini as a structured learning and test-prep assistant rather than a shortcut for answers.
After completing a mock exam, Gemini provides instant feedback, identifying strengths and areas that require additional work. The chatbot can also walk students through correct answers and generate personalized study plans based on their performance, according to Google.
Beyond Gemini, Google said JEE Main preparation features will also be added to AI Mode in Search. These include Canvas, a tool that allows students to create study guides and interactive quizzes by uploading their class notes.
Google noted that students across India are already using Gemini to study topics ranging from advanced physics to general STEM subjects. It added that NotebookLM is also being used to turn study materials into quizzes, flashcards, and audio or video summaries. The company's AI education tools are available in multiple Indian languages.
The company is also expanding its efforts to support educators in India. Google said it plans to work with government bodies on a nationwide initiative to help teachers and education staff use AI for administrative tasks and lesson planning.
As part of this effort, Google is partnering with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Chaudhary Charan Singh University on a pilot project to create an "AI-enabled state university." The initiative aims to develop a national framework for applying AI across vocational and higher education, encompassing teaching, student support, and administrative operations.
Separately, Google's philanthropic arm, Google.org, is providing Wadhwani AI with an ₹850 million grant (roughly $10 million) to integrate AI into government-run education platforms. The funding will support systems such as national online learning portals and state education platforms, with the goal of improving adaptability and reducing educators' administrative workloads.
The broader program spans preschool through higher education and includes tools such as voice-based reading support in multiple Indian languages and AI-powered English-learning coaches. Google said the initiative has already reached about 10 million learners and educators and aims to expand to 75 million students, 1.8 million educators, and one million early-career professionals by the end of 2027.
