Kodiak AI announced on Monday that it is partnering with global automotive supplier Bosch to develop a combined hardware and software system designed to bring autonomous driving capabilities to standard long-haul trucks.

The collaboration was announced at the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and is intended to help Kodiak accelerate the deployment of its self-driving technology across a broader range of commercial trucks.

Kodiak develops autonomous truck technology for highway freight, industrial operations, and defence applications. The company has already built a self-driving system that includes redundant braking, steering, sensing, and computing components. In January 2025, Kodiak’s autonomous trucks began operating driverless commercial deliveries for Atlas Energy Solutions in the Permian Basin region of West Texas and eastern New Mexico.

Since then, Kodiak has delivered at least eight autonomous trucks to Atlas Energy as part of an initial 100-truck order under the companies’ agreement. The vehicles delivered to Atlas were upfitted in partnership with Roush Industries.

Following its public debut in September 2025 through a merger with Ares Acquisition Corporation II, Kodiak is now focused on scaling its autonomous technology for broader commercial adoption.

Under the new partnership, Bosch and Kodiak will jointly develop redundant autonomous platforms that convert semi-trucks—regardless of manufacturer—into driverless vehicles. Bosch will supply key hardware components, including sensors and vehicle actuation systems such as steering technologies. According to Kodiak founder and CEO Don Burnette, the systems can be integrated directly during vehicle manufacturing or installed later by third-party upfitters.

“We believe collaborating with Bosch will allow us to scale autonomous driving hardware with the modularity, serviceability, and system-level integration needed for commercial success for both upfit and factory-line integration,” Burnette said in a statement.

Bosch executives also described the partnership as an opportunity to expand the company’s footprint in autonomous trucking. Paul Thomas, president of Bosch in North America and head of Bosch Mobility Americas, said the collaboration builds on Kodiak’s existing real-world deployments.

“By supplying production-grade hardware, we are enabling the next generation of autonomous trucking alongside Kodiak,” Thomas said. “Kodiak has already deployed trucks with no humans on board in commercial operation, and this cooperation gives us a valuable opportunity to deepen our understanding of real-world autonomous vehicle requirements and further enhance our offerings for the broader autonomous mobility ecosystem.”

While the partnership signals plans for expansion, neither Kodiak nor Bosch provided a specific timeline for when the jointly developed systems will enter production or become commercially available.
