Rivian Spinoff Also Begins E-Bike Deliveries After Delays
Rivian-backed startup Also will begin delivering its TM-B electric bike after months of supply chain delays pushed back customer shipments.
Rivian spinoff Also will begin delivering its first electric bikes to customers next week after several months of delays caused by unspecified supply chain issues.
The company said the Launch Edition of its TM-B e-bike, priced at $4,500, has started shipping from its manufacturing facility to its warehouse in the United States. Also expects to deliver all Launch Edition orders between next week and September.
From Rivian project to standalone company
Also began as an internal skunkworks project at Rivian in 2022 after CEO RJ Scaringe explored the idea of building an electric bike to complement Rivian’s lineup of outdoor-focused electric vehicles.
The company spent several years developing the concept and, according to reports published in 2025, enlisted Jony Ive’s design firm LoveFrom to help shape an early version of the bike.
In March 2025, Rivian spun off Also into an independent company backed by $105 million in funding from Eclipse.
The startup unveiled its first product, the TM-B e-bike, in October last year. Deliveries were originally scheduled for spring 2026 but were later pushed back to July because of supply chain disruptions.
In a June support update, Also said a sharp increase in industry-wide demand for raw materials and electronic components had affected the availability of key parts required for the TM-B, delaying production.
The company added that its engineering and manufacturing teams were working to minimise the delays without compromising safety or product quality.
Also declined to specify which components caused the production setbacks.
Bigger ambitions ahead
Although the TM-B is the company’s first product, Also has broader plans beyond electric bicycles.
The startup describes itself as a vehicle company and is developing four-wheel pedal-assist cargo vehicles for Amazon, as well as an autonomous delivery vehicle for DoorDash.
For now, however, its immediate priority is successfully delivering its first customer orders while managing the challenges of customer service and support.
Frustration over repeated delivery delays has been growing among reservation holders. In a recent discussion on the r/ALSOmicromobility subreddit, several customers criticised the company’s communication around shipping timelines.
Some users said they were disappointed by repeated schedule changes, while others said they had cancelled their reservations after waiting longer than expected.
