Multiple London Councils Report Disruption Amid Ongoing Cyberattack
Several London councils, including Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster, and Hammersmith & Fulham, are experiencing major service disruptions following an ongoing cyberattack.
At least three London councils are currently dealing with disruptions caused by an ongoing cyberattack, forcing officials to take their networks offline, shut down phone systems, and activate emergency response procedures.
The councils for the London boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster — which operate shared IT systems — confirmed that their priority is “protecting systems and data, restoring systems, and maintaining critical services to the public.”
Hammersmith & Fulham Council has also reported being impacted, according to information posted on its website.
These councils oversee essential public services including housing, social care, and waste collection. None of the affected authorities has disclosed details of the cyberattack’s nature, nor have they attributed the incident to any specific threat group. Investigations are underway to determine whether any data may have been compromised.
Kensington’s website noted that the cause of the cyber incident “is now established,” but added that no further details will be shared for the time being due to an ongoing investigation involving U.K. law enforcement.
