Anthropic Signs Reported $10 Billion AI Cloud Deal With Volta

Anthropic has reportedly secured a $10 billion cloud computing agreement with AI cloud startup Volta, marking the latest expansion of the company’s infrastructure strategy as it seeks additional computing capacity to support its Claude family of AI models.

According to a report by Bloomberg, the six-year agreement will see Volta provide cloud compute services to Anthropic. The startup, which was founded earlier this year, will work alongside cryptocurrency mining company Bitdeer to develop the infrastructure needed to support the partnership.

The project will centre on a new data centre in Norway with a planned capacity of 133 megawatts. The facility is expected to run on Nvidia’s Vera Rubin architecture, the chipmaker’s latest generation of AI computing systems designed for large-scale artificial intelligence workloads.

Volta is part of Nvidia’s Cloud Partner program, a network of cloud providers that build AI infrastructure using Nvidia graphics processing units. Before Bloomberg identified Anthropic as its customer, Volta had disclosed that it had reached an agreement with a major AI laboratory but did not publicly name the company.

Anthropic has not officially announced the reported agreement.
