Nearly half of daily uploads on Deezer are now AI-generated, the company reports

Music streaming platform Deezer has revealed that AI-generated songs now account for 44% of all new music uploaded to its service. According to the company, it is currently receiving nearly 75,000 AI-created tracks per day, totalling more than 2 million per month.

Despite the sharp rise in uploads, the actual listening share of AI-generated music remains relatively low. Deezer said such tracks account for only around 1–3% of total streams on the platform. Of those streams, approximately 85% are identified as fraudulent and therefore demonetised.

The latest figures highlight a rapid and ongoing acceleration in AI music creation. Deezer reported about 60,000 AI-generated tracks per day in January, up from 50,000 in November, 30,000 in September, and just 10,000 per day in January 2025, when the company first introduced its AI-music detection system.

Under Deezer’s current policy, AI-generated tracks are excluded from algorithmic recommendations and are not included in editorial playlists. The company also announced that it will no longer store high-resolution versions of AI-generated music.

The announcement comes shortly after an AI-generated song topped the iTunes charts in multiple countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, and New Zealand.

“AI-generated music is now far from a marginal phenomenon, and as daily deliveries keep increasing, we hope the whole music ecosystem will join us in taking action to help safeguard artists’ rights and promote transparency for fans,” Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier said in a statement. “Thanks to our technology and the proactive measures we put in place more than a year ago, we have shown that it’s possible to reduce AI-related fraud and payment dilution in streaming to a minimum.”

Deezer also referenced internal research conducted in November, which found that 97% of participants were unable to distinguish between fully AI-generated music and human-created songs. The same survey showed that 52% of respondents believed that fully AI-generated tracks should not be included alongside human-made music in the official charts. In comparison,e 80% said such content should be clearly labelled.

The platform began labelling AI-generated tracks in June 2025, becoming the first major streaming service to implement such a system. Since then, Deezer says it has tagged more than 13.4 million AI-generated tracks.

In February, French streaming service Qobuz also announced plans to label AI-generated content on its platform. Meanwhile, major global platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music have taken different approaches, combining filtering systems for low-quality AI content with broader transparency efforts managed through distributors.
