OpenAI partners with Infosys to expand AI tools for enterprises

OpenAI has entered into a partnership with Infosys to integrate its artificial intelligence tools, including its coding assistant Codex, into the Indian IT services company’s Topaz AI platform.

Infosys said the integration will support its enterprise customers in modernising software development processes, automating business workflows, and deploying AI systems at scale. The initial focus areas include software engineering, legacy system modernisation, and DevOps operations.

The deal comes at a time when India’s IT services sector is under growing pressure from slowing client demand and rapid advances in generative AI technologies. Infosys shares have declined by more than 22% this year amid a broader market sell-off, driven by weak earnings forecasts, investor concerns that AI tools could automate parts of traditional outsourcing work, and macroeconomic uncertainty linked to geopolitical tensions, including the U.S.-Iran war.

The collaboration also reflects a broader industry trend, in which AI companies are increasingly partnering with global IT services firms to accelerate enterprise adoption of AI at scale. OpenAI has previously worked with HCL Technologies, while Infosys has also established a similar partnership with Anthropic.

Through Infosys’ global client network, OpenAI gains access to a broad distribution channel spanning more than 60 countries. Both companies stated that the objective of the partnership is to help enterprises move beyond early AI experimentation and toward large-scale, production-level deployment.

Infosys has been aggressively expanding its AI-focused business. Earlier this year, the company reported that AI-related services generated ₹25 billion (approximately $267 million) in revenue in the December quarter, accounting for about 5.5% of its total revenue.

The agreement is also part of OpenAI’s broader strategy to expand its enterprise footprint through initiatives such as the recently announced Codex Labs, where engineers collaborate directly with enterprise clients to support the implementation of its tools. The program includes major global partners such as Accenture, Capgemini, CGI, Cognizant, Infosys, PwC, and Tata Consultancy Services. OpenAI aims to build a large distribution ecosystem to scale Codex adoption, which now has more than 4 million weekly active users.

The companies did not disclose any financial terms of the agreement.
