YouTube Announces ‘Voluntary Exit Program’ for U.S. Staff
YouTube introduces a voluntary exit program for U.S. employees and reorganises its product teams into three divisions, following Alphabet’s strong Q3 earnings.
YouTube has launched a “voluntary exit program” offering severance packages to U.S.-based employees, the company confirmed to TechCrunch on Wednesday. Sources first reported the development.
CEO Neal Mohan informed employees of the program in an internal memo shared the same day.
In the memo, Mohan also revealed that YouTube — owned by Google — is restructuring its product organisation into three newly defined divisions, each reporting directly to him.
The new structure includes:
-
Subscription Products — overseeing subscription offerings across YouTube Music, YouTube Premium, and over-the-top (OTT) services.
-
Viewer Products — responsible for the user experience across the main YouTube app, YouTube Kids, Learning, Trust & Safety, and more.
-
Creator & Community Products — dedicated to supporting creators and strengthening community engagement.
YouTube clarified that no jobs are being eliminated as part of the reorganisation.
The announcement follows Alphabet’s release of its third-quarter earnings on Wednesday, where YouTube reported $10.26 billion in advertising revenue — a 15% increase compared to the same period last year.
