Index Ventures Raises $2 Billion Across Three Funds

Venture capital firm Index Ventures has raised $2 billion in new capital across three investment funds, the company announced on Friday.

The 30-year-old investment firm secured $400 million for a new seed-stage fund and $900 million for its latest venture fund. It also added another $700 million to its existing growth fund, which originally raised $1.5 billion in 2024, bringing the firm’s total available growth capital to $3.5 billion.

The fundraising comes two years after Index Ventures raised $2.3 billion across two funds, including $800 million for the predecessor to its current venture fund.

Strong exits boost momentum

Unlike several venture capital firms that have significantly increased the size of their funds in recent years, Index has maintained a relatively measured approach while continuing to deliver strong investment performance.

One of its biggest successes came earlier this year when portfolio company Wiz completed its $32 billion acquisition by Alphabet.

Index first invested in Wiz during its seed funding round and became the cybersecurity company’s largest outside shareholder with a 12% stake, a holding that Reuters estimated was worth about $3.8 billion following the acquisition.

The firm was also an early investor in design software company Figma, which completed its public listing last year.

Continuing focus on AI

Index Ventures has continued expanding its investments in artificial intelligence through several high-profile startups.

Its AI portfolio includes robotics startup Physical Intelligence, AI inference platform Fireworks AI, and Anthropic.

The firm invested in Anthropic during a funding round completed last September that valued the AI company at $183 billion.

With fresh capital now available across its seed, venture and growth strategies, Index Ventures is positioned to continue backing startups from their earliest stages through later rounds of expansion.
