Daydream is turning photos already sitting in an iPhone camera roll into a new starting point for fashion shopping. The AI-powered discovery app can identify clothing in saved images and surface shoppable matches, and it also lets users search for fashion through Siri without opening the app.

The features were built using Apple’s iOS 27 developer tools and require an iPhone running iOS 27 with Siri AI enabled. Users also need the free Daydream iOS app.

Saved outfit photos become shopping searches

Daydream can analyse an outfit in a saved photo, separate it into individual items such as sweaters, pants, shoes and accessories, and search its catalogue of roughly 3 million products for matches. For example, a screenshot saved from Instagram or Pinterest can become the basis for a product search.

If Daydream finds an exact item that’s still available, it can direct the shopper to the retailer selling it. If the product is no longer available, the service can surface similar alternatives. Users can also refine the search requests, such as finding the same type of sweater in a different colour.

The capability extends Daydream’s broader approach to AI-powered fashion discovery, where the company aims to combine visual understanding with detailed knowledge of brands, products,s and individual preferences.

Siri can search Daydream without opening the app

The second feature integrates Daydream with Siri for natural-language fashion searches by voice or text. A shopper could ask Siri to search Daydream for a blazer suitable for a board meeting, for example, and receive personalised results without first navigating into the app.

Results can be further tailored through Daydream’s Style Passport, which stores information including a user’s sizes, favourite brands, personal style and budget.

Daydream is entering an increasingly competitive AI shopping market. Google has been adding visual and AI-assisted tools to help shoppers discover fashion products through Search. Startups such as Onton are also using AI to rethink how consumers find products online.

Daydream wants to build a broader shopping agent

CEO and co-founder Julie Bornstein said Daydream sees the new features as steps toward a shopping agent that can understand an individual’s style across different parts of their digital life, rather than operating only inside a single app.

The company says more than 1.5 million shoppers use Daydream to browse products from over 325 retailers and 10,000 brands. Its catalogue includes retailers and labels such as Anthropologie, Dolce & Gabbana, Uniqlo, J.Crew, Reformation, Gucci and Nordstrom.

By connecting saved images, Siri searches, and personal style preferences, Daydream aims to reduce the gap between seeing an outfit someone likes and finding products they can actually buy.
