Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang made headlines after President Donald Trump called him live on stage at the All-In conference in Los Angeles. The moment also drew attention for another reason: Huang answered the call using a foldable smartphone.

The Nvidia chief was handed the device during the event while wearing his trademark leather jacket. After connecting with Trump, Huang placed the conversation on speaker for the audience.

The discussion quickly turned to artificial intelligence safety and whether the industry should slow the pace of AI development. Trump argued that concerns over AI progress could benefit U.S. competitors and said the technology should continue advancing.

The conversation comes as technology leaders debate how quickly advanced AI systems should be developed. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has argued for a more cautious approach through his proposal to “pace the frontier”, which calls for stronger safeguards and oversight as AI capabilities improve.

Huang’s public comments align with Nvidia’s broader position that continued investment in AI infrastructure is necessary to support innovation. Nvidia supplies many of the advanced chips AI companies use to train and run large models.
