YouTube Premium and YouTube Music subscription prices are rising
YouTube Premium and YouTube Music are becoming more expensive, with price increases impacting subscribers across multiple regions and plans.
YouTube confirmed on Friday that it is increasing subscription prices for both YouTube Premium and YouTube Music across the United States.
The individual YouTube Premium plan will rise from $13.99 to $15.99 per month, while the family plan will increase from $22.99 to $26.99 per month. Meanwhile, YouTube Premium Lite — a lower-cost option that removes ads from most content except music videos and songs — will move from $7.99 to $8.99 per month.
For YouTube Music, the individual subscription price is increasing from $10.99 to $11.99 per month. The family plan is also going up, from $16.99 to $18.99 per month.
The company stated that these updated prices will apply to both new and existing subscribers. Current users will be notified via email at least 30 days before the changes take effect.
“We’re updating the price for YouTube Premium plans in the US for the first time since 2023 to continue delivering a high-quality experience that supports creators and artists on YouTube,” a company spokesperson said. “This change allows us to maintain the features our members value most: ad-free viewing, background play, and a massive library of 300M+ tracks on YouTube Music. We continue to offer several plans, ensuring subscribers can choose the option that works best for them.”
The last price increase took place in July 2023, when YouTube Premium rose from $11.99 to $13.99 per month, and YouTube Music rose from $9.99 to $10.99 per month.
YouTube reported in March 2025 that it had reached 125 million subscribers across its Premium and Music services, compared to 100 million in 2024.
The latest price adjustments come amid a broader trend in the streaming industry, with several major platforms recently raising subscription costs. Companies like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video increased prices last month, while Spotify implemented changes earlier this year. Other services, including HBO Max, Peacock, and Disney+/Hulu, also introduced price hikes over the past year.
