Amazon Reportedly Plans to Cut Around 30,000 Corporate Jobs

Amazon may soon undertake its most considerable workforce reduction since 2023.

According to a Reuters report on Monday, sources familiar with the situation said the company is preparing to eliminate up to 30,000 corporate roles, with layoffs expected to begin on Tuesday. The cuts will reportedly span several departments, including human resources, devices and services, operations, and additional business units.

The last time Amazon executed job cuts of this scale was between late 2022 and early 2023, when the company laid off approximately 27,000 employees.

In recent years, Amazon has implemented smaller, targeted reductions across various divisions. In January, the company confirmed a limited number of cuts within its Communications and Sustainability teams.

The news also comes after a CNBC report referencing an internal memo from CEO Andy Jassy. In the memo, Jassy indicated that as Amazon continues to deploy and expand AI-driven agents across its operations, the need for corporate staffing will decrease.

Amazon did not immediately respond to media requests for comment.
