Amazon’s Ring Doorbells Get Fire Alerts, an App Store, and New Sensors
Amazon announced new Ring features at CES 2026, including fire alerts, an app store, AI detection, and advanced home sensors.
Amazon is expanding the capabilities of its Ring doorbells and cameras with a wave of new features, including fire alerts, an in-app marketplace for third-party software, and an updated lineup of Ring Sensors.
Announced at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Amazon said the new Ring Sensors are designed to broaden home monitoring capabilities significantly. The sensors can detect motion, door and window openings, glass breakage, and smoke, while also monitoring carbon monoxide levels, water leaks, temperature changes, and air quality. In addition to safety and security monitoring, the sensors can control lighting and connected appliances in a smart home.
Amazon is also introducing a new app store inside the Ring app, allowing users to integrate their Ring cameras with third-party applications. The app store is launching in the United States only and will roll out gradually over the coming weeks. While Amazon did not provide a complete list of supported apps, it said the marketplace will focus on tools for small-business operations and everyday household needs.
As wildfires become more frequent in drought-prone regions, Amazon is adding fire alerts to the Ring experience through a partnership with Watch Duty. The integration delivers real-time fire updates and early warnings directly to the Ring app’s Neighbours section. Users can also share live footage and updates from their Ring cameras with the Neighbours community during fire-related events.
The newly announced Ring devices also support Amazon Sidewalk, the company’s shared network technology that creates a low-bandwidth mesh network using nearby Echo and Ring devices. Sidewalkkeepss compatible devices remain connected and functional even when they fall outside a user’s Wi-Fi range.
Amazon is further enhancing Ring cameras with a new AI-powered feature called “AI Unusual Event Alerts.” This feature typically identifies activity patterns around a p.. It notifies users when activity deviates from the norm. According to Amazon, the system can generate alerts based on factors such as a person’s location, behaviour, and clothing.
For customers subscribed to Amazon’s Virtual Security Guard service, these AI-generated alerts can automatically trigger responses, including human intervention when warranted. Over the past month, Amazon has also introduced additional video-recognition features that can trigger Alexa responses and send personalised notifications using a database of up to 50 recognised faces.
Rounding out the announcements, Amazon revealed a new Ring Car Alarm equipped with built-in GPS, extending Ring’s security ecosystem beyond the home and into vehicle monitoring.
Together, the updates reflect Amazon’s broader push to position Ring as a more comprehensive safety, security, and smart home platform, integrating AI, third-party apps, and real-time community data into its connected devices.
