Thomas Dohmke, the former CEO of GitHub, has raised what his lead investor describes as the largest seed round ever for a developer tools startup. His new venture, Entire, has secured $60 million in seed funding at a $300 million valuation.

Entire is building an open-source platform to help developers better organise and manage code generated by AI agents.

The company’s technology stack consists of three primary components. The first is a Git-compatible database designed to unify code produced by AI systems. Git, a widely used distributed version control system, underpins platforms such as GitLab and GitHub.

The second component is described as “a universal semantic reasoning layer,” which is intended to enable multiple AI agents to collaborate effectively within the same environment. The third element is an AI-native user interface built specifically to support collaboration between agents and human developers.

Entire’s initial product is an open-source tool called Checkpoints. This tool automatically associates each piece of software submitted by an AI agent with the project and the context that generated it, including prompts and conversation transcripts. The goal is to allow human developers to review, search, and better understand the reasoning behind the AI’s contributions.

The startup is positioning itself as a solution to the growing flood of AI-generated code. Open-source projects, in particular, have faced an influx of code submissions, some of which may be poorly constructed or unusable—often described as “AI slop.” Entire aims to provide infrastructure that helps developers evaluate and manage this surge more effectively.

In a press release, Dohmke said, “We are living through an agent boom, and now massive volumes of code are being generated faster than any human could reasonably understand. The truth is, our manual system of software production — from issues, to git repositories, to pull requests, to deployment — was never designed for the era of AI in the first place.”

Dohmke led GitHub, owned by Microsoft, for four years before stepping down in August 2025 to launch his startup, a move he announced at the time on X. During his tenure, he oversaw the rapid adoption of GitHub Copilot, the company’s AI-powered coding assistant.

The seed round was led by Felicis, with additional participation from Madrona, M12, Basis Set, Harry Stebbings, Jerry Yang, and Olivier Pomel, founder and CEO of Datadog.
