Google completes $32B acquisition of cloud security startup Wiz
Google has finalised its $32 billion acquisition of Wiz, strengthening its cloud cybersecurity capabilities and expanding security offerings within Google Cloud.
Google has now officially completed its acquisition of Israeli cybersecurity company Wiz for $32 billion in cash, one year after the two companies first announced the agreement. The transaction stands as the largest acquisition Google has ever made.
Wiz is known for offering a security platform that protects major cloud environments by helping organisations prevent and respond to cybersecurity threats. Although the company is becoming part of Google Cloud, it said it will continue operating under the Wiz brand and remain committed to securing customers across all cloud environments.
The acquisition follows Wiz surpassing $1 billion in annual recurring revenue in 2025, according to a source familiar with the matter.
“This acquisition is an investment by Google Cloud to improve cloud security and enable organisations to build fast and securely across any cloud or AI platform,” Google said in a statement.
As more large organisations operate across multiple cloud providers — including Google Cloud, AWS, Azure, and Oracle Cloud — Wiz gives Google a stronger position to attract enterprise customers through a multi-cloud security offering.
In the future, the two companies said they will work together on a “unified security platform” to help organisations respond to threats more quickly. That has become increasingly important as the growth of vibe coding has contributed to more security vulnerabilities and as prompt-based attacks become more common. Wiz has also emphasised its own use of AI to strengthen threat detection and investigation across every layer of a cloud environment, from code and infrastructure to runtime.
Google first approached Wiz in 2024 with a $23 billion acquisition proposal. Wiz declined that offer. At the time, CEO Assaf Rappaport said he believed the business had the potential to grow far beyond that valuation.
The two sides resumed acquisition discussions in the first months of 2025, and Google announced in March 2025 that it would acquire Wiz for $32 billion.
The deal moved ahead after receiving approval from regulators in the United States and the European Union in November 2025 and February 2026, respectively, following antitrust investigations.
