Google announced on Monday that it is expanding access to Gemini’s personalised AI image generation feature, making it available at no cost to all eligible users in the United States. Previously, the Nano Banana-powered capability was limited to subscribers of the Plus, Pro, and Ultra plans.

The company first revealed in April that Gemini’s Personal Intelligence feature would be enhanced with Nano Banana-powered image generation, enabling users to create images tailored to their individual interests and preferences. Instead of requiring detailed prompts, Gemini can generate personalised images using its existing understanding of a user’s preferences and activity across Google services.

For example, rather than writing a prompt such as “Create an illustration of me and my favourite things, such as coffee and baking,” users can request “Create an illustration of me and my favourite things,” with Gemini filling in the details based on its understanding of their interests.

Gemini can also retrieve photos directly from a user’s Google Photos library, eliminating the need to manually upload personal images before generating customised artwork.

Google rolled out the Personal Intelligence feature earlier this year, making it broadly available to U.S. users in March. More recently, the company expanded the feature to customers in India and Japan.

Personal Intelligence is entirely opt-in, allowing users to decide which Google applications Gemini can access. Once enabled, the feature automatically applies to every prompt by default, though users can switch it off at any time via a new toggle in the Tools menu.

Last month, Google also announced several upcoming enhancements for the Gemini app. These include a new Daily Brief feature, a redesigned user interface, access to the Gemini Omni AI video model, and a new personal AI assistant, Gemini Spark.

The latest rollout comes as Gemini continues to strengthen its position in the competitive AI market. Earlier this year, Google’s AI chatbot surpassed 750 million monthly active users, reinforcing its status as one of the world’s leading artificial intelligence platforms.
