What if doomscrolling could be outsourced? That is the idea behind the new startup Noscroll, which has launched an AI-powered bot designed to browse social feeds, news platforms, and online discussions, then notify users when something relevant or important appears.

“No feed. no brainrot. no ragebit,” reads Noscroll’s pitch. “just signal.”

At its core, the concept is straightforward: an AI agent that reads the internet for the user. But behind the scenes, the system involves multiple layers of processing to make that possible.

Nadav Hollander, formerly CTO at NFT marketplace OpenSea after selling his decentralised finance startup to the company in 2022, said the idea came from his own conflicted relationship with X. After stepping away from his role at OpenSea, he found himself spending more time on the platform.

“It’s phenomenally entertaining and really informative in ways you just don’t get from normal media,” Hollander told. “But it’s so toxic culturally, and it’s just very upsetting to read,” he said, comparing it to fast food. “You just feel terrible after it.”

He said the goal was to avoid the platform without missing out on updates and news, which led to the creation of Noscroll. The service launched publicly just a few days ago.

To use it, users text the Noscroll AI agent at (415) 718-4828, and the agent sends a link to connect their X account. This authentication allows the system to access likes, bookmarks, and followed accounts.

The platform runs on off-the-shelf AI models combined with proprietary infrastructure. These models are heavily prompt-tuned to give the bot a distinct tone and personality.

Users can interact with the agent in natural language, specifying topics they care about and those they want filtered out. The system then generates a sample digest based on those preferences.

Noscroll pulls information not only from X but also from sources like news websites, blogs, Reddit, Hacker News, Substack, and research publications. Users can also request specific sources to be included.

Instead of endlessly scrolling, the AI delivers curated summaries via text message at a chosen frequency. Casual users might opt for weekly digests, while heavy users may receive updates multiple times per day.

Each digest includes a set of links accompanied by short AI-generated summaries. Users can tap through to read full articles in a browser.

The bot also supports conversational follow-ups, allowing users to ask questions about the content or discuss topics further. It can also be added to group chats or Telegram channels, with additional chat integrations planned.

In addition, Noscroll claims it can detect breaking news and send immediate alerts when important events occur.

Over time, the system adapts to user behaviour and refines its recommendations based on individual interests.

The service currently costs $9.99 per month, though new users can access a free sample digest and seven-day trial before subscribing. Cancellation is allowed at any time, and the company says it may explore dynamic pricing in the future.

While tech news consumption is an obvious use case, Noscroll is not limited to industry updates. Users can follow almost any topic, including entertainment, sports, local news, niche hobbies, or personal interests.

Hollander said usage has expanded beyond tech audiences.

“People [are] following really niche anime industry news and local restaurant openings in Kyoto,” he said.

Some users are tracking job listings and layoffs, while journalists are using it to monitor political developments and local events.

“I think the archetype that’s been interesting is anybody who has a professional need to be very online and follow things very closely. It’s quite useful to have a deputy who’s doing that for you on whatever your beat is,” he added.

The startup says adoption has been rapid, with investor interest already growing. Hollander built the product alongside a co-founder, @z0age on X, an open-source developer from the crypto space. The team says it has not yet decided how to respond to incoming investment interest.

Noscroll is currently available through Noscroll.com via a “Text your agent” option.
