Synthesia Expands Enterprise AI Platform With Interactive Roleplay Sessions
Synthesia has launched Roleplay Sessions, an AI-powered enterprise training platform that enables employees to practise workplace conversations with interactive AI avatars and receive performance feedback.
Synthesia is expanding its enterprise artificial intelligence platform beyond AI-generated training videos with the launch of Roleplay Sessions, a new interactive coaching tool designed to help employees practise workplace conversations. The British startup announced the product on Wednesday, positioning it as the first release under a broader Sessions platform that will eventually support additional use cases such as job interviews and candidate screening.
Unlike traditional training videos, Roleplay Sessions enables employees to engage in simulated conversations with AI avatars that respond in real time. Users can practise scenarios including sales presentations, performance reviews and customer complaint handling, after which the platform evaluates their performance against predefined scoring criteria and provides feedback.
AI training shifts from content to measurable performance.
Synthesia says the new platform reflects a broader shift in enterprise AI, where organisations are increasingly focused on measuring whether training improves employee performance rather than simply delivering educational content. According to the company, while video-based learning remains more engaging than text documents, real skill development comes through repeated practice and constructive feedback.
"Video performs way better than text or sending out a document,” Synthesia CEO and co-founder Victor Riparbelli said. “But for most things, we learn the best by actually practising something rather than just reading it.”
The company believes this approach makes its platform more valuable to enterprise customers by combining AI-generated conversations with performance scoring, analytics and assessment tools. Rather than functioning solely as an AI avatar provider, Synthesia is positioning itself as a workplace performance management platform.
Managers gain deeper insights into workforce skills
Roleplay Sessions allows organisations to evaluate employee capabilities across departments using standardised assessment criteria. Managers can analyse individual and team performance, identify skill gaps and measure improvements over time through detailed analytics.
Riparbelli said enterprise customers have shown significant interest in using AI-generated roleplay sessions to understand better workforce capabilities, particularly among sales teams and leadership groups where communication and interpersonal skills play a critical role.
The company said several large organisations have already begun commercial deployments of Roleplay Sessions, including one of Europe’s three largest companies by market value, a Fortune 100 business and one of the world’s largest recruitment firms.
Expansion plans extend beyond large enterprises.
As withSynthesia’ss existing AI video platform, customers can build their own customised training programmes or work with Synthesia’s consulting team to develop tailored learning experiences using company-specific documentation and internal knowledge.
Although Roleplay Sessions is currently available only to enterprise customers, Synthesia plans to expand the platform to small businesses, professional users and educational institutions as AI inference costs continue to decline. The company believes interactive coaching represents the next stage of enterprise AI adoption, where businesses increasingly prioritise measurable outcomes and workforce development over AI demonstrations alone.
