Tesla expands robotaxi service to Dallas and Houston

Tesla is expanding its robotaxi operations to two new cities: Dallas and Houston, according to a post the company shared on social media.

The announcement stated simply that “Robotaxi is now rolling out in Dallas & Houston,” alongside a 14-second video showing Tesla vehicles operating without human drivers or safety monitors in the front seat.

With this expansion, Tesla’s robotaxi service is now available in three cities, all located in Texas. The company first launched the service in Austin last year and began offering driverless rides there in January 2026. In a regulatory filing submitted in February, Tesla reported that its Austin-based robotaxi fleet has been involved in 14 crashes since its rollout began.

In addition to its fully autonomous service, Tesla also operates a more limited ride-hailing option in the San Francisco Bay Area, where human drivers are still involved.

Despite the expansion, early data suggest that the deployment in Dallas and Houston may still be in its initial stages. Crowdsourced tracking data from the Robotaxi Tracker website shows only a single active vehicle recorded in each of the two new cities, compared to 46 vehicles currently operating in Austin. The rollout reflects Tesla’s continued push to scale its autonomous ride-hailing ambitions, though the size and pace of deployment in new markets remain limited for now.
