Uber and Lyft to test Baidu robotaxis in London next year, joining Waymo
Uber and Lyft will test Baidu’s Apollo Go robotaxis in London starting in 2026, pending regulatory approval. The move expands a series of global partnerships to deploy autonomous vehicles in major cities.
Uber and Lyft will begin testing Baidu’s Apollo Go robotaxis in London in 2026, joining a growing list of companies deploying autonomous vehicles in the city, alongside Waymo and the local startup Wayve.
Lyft CEO David Risher said in posts on X and LinkedIn that Lyft will begin testing the vehicles once it receives local regulatory approval. He added that the company “plans to scale to hundreds” of Baidu’s electric RT6 SUVs, though he did not provide a timeline for a commercial launch.
Uber separately confirmed it plans to test Baidu’s robotaxis in London next year as part of a partnership announced in July. Uber said it expects testing to begin in the first half of 2026.
The planned London deployments mark the latest wave of robotaxi partnerships, as Uber and Lyft increasingly rely on collaborations with companies such as Baidu and Waymo to launch autonomous-vehicle operations in cities worldwide.
