Wonder Secures $425 Million DoorDash Partnership to Expand Food Delivery Empire
Wonder and DoorDash announced a $425 million partnership, with DoorDash investing in Wonder and acquiring its Grubhub Campus Dining business.
DoorDash is investing in food technology company Wonder and acquiring its Grubhub Campus Dining business in a $425 million deal as both companies expand their positions in the digital food ecosystem.
Under the agreement, DoorDash will acquire Wonder’s Grubhub Campus Dining business, formerly known as Tapingo, for $300 million. DoorDash will also invest $125 million into Wonder’s $650 million Series D funding round, according to the companies.
DoorDash expands campus and venue dining business
Grubhub Campus Dining currently operates at 450 colleges and universities. DoorDash said the acquisition will allow it to expand the service into additional locations such as stadiums, hotels and other venues.
DoorDash co-founder Tony Xu said adding the campus dining business would help provide more choice for students while simplifying operations for universities.
The partnership gives Wonder additional support as it continues building a broader food platform centered on combining restaurant brands, production facilities and delivery. DoorDash outlined the strategic partnership as part of its expansion plans.
Wonder builds a multi-brand food platform
Founded by Marc Lore, Wonder operates a network of food halls designed around delivery and takeout. The company allows customers to order meals from multiple restaurant concepts through a single platform.
Wonder has expanded through acquisitions, including its $650 million purchase of Grubhub last year. The company has also added restaurant brands such as Mighty Quinn’s BBQ, Salt Hank’s and Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken to its portfolio.
The company previously announced a $650 million Series D funding round at a $9 billion pre-money valuation as it continued expanding its food technology business.
Wonder’s restaurant portfolio has included brands such as Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken, while its expansion has also included acquisitions of restaurant operators including Mighty Quinn’s BBQ and Salt Hank’s.
Wonder continues rapid location growth
Wonder said it currently has 157 locations, more than four times its footprint since the beginning of 2025. The company plans to expand into Texas in early 2027.
Lore said the DoorDash partnership supports Wonder’s long-term goal of creating a more automated food system capable of planning, producing and delivering personalised meals at scale.
The deal gives Wonder additional capital and distribution support as it continues to develop a larger food ecosystem combining restaurants, technology, and delivery infrastructure.
