As Apple’s WWDC 2026 gets underway, anticipation is growing around the company’s next-generation software and artificial intelligence features. From a redesigned Siri experience to expanded Apple Intelligence capabilities, this year’s event is expected to showcase some of Apple’s biggest software advancements yet.

Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference begins today at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET. Viewers can follow the keynote through the Apple Developer app, Apple’s official website, and the company’s YouTube channel.

Siri Set for a Major AI Upgrade

One of the most highly anticipated announcements centres on Siri. Reports suggest Apple is preparing a significant overhaul that will make the assistant more conversational, context-aware, and capable of handling complex, multi-step requests. Siri is also expected to interact more naturally across apps and services while benefiting from Google Gemini-powered enhancements.

Bloomberg has also reported that Apple is developing a standalone Siri application designed to compete more directly with AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. Additional features could include controls to automatically delete conversations after a specified period, such as 30 days, 1 year, or never.

AI Agent Integration for the App Store

According to reports from The Information, Apple is exploring AI agent functionality within the App Store ecosystem. Although details remain limited, AI agents could help users complete tasks such as booking reservations, managing schedules, editing files, or controlling smart home devices with minimal input.

Camera and Photos Apps Receiving AI Enhancements

Apple is expected to introduce a new Visual Intelligence section within the Camera app. This feature would replace the previous Camera Control implementation and appear alongside modes such as Photo, Video, Portrait, and Panorama. Visual Intelligence leverages Google Image Search technology to identify and analyse objects captured through the camera.

The Photos app is also rumoured to receive several Apple Intelligence-powered additions, including scene optimisation suggestions, automatic object removal, and AI-assisted editing tools that let users make adjustments via natural-language commands.

Image Playground Improvements

The Image Playground app could see substantial upgrades, including improved image-generation quality, expanded artistic styles, stronger character consistency, and more advanced editing options. Apple is reportedly simplifying the creation interface while introducing a “describe a change” feature for editing generated images.

Additional updates may include suggested Genmoji recommendations based on user interactions and media, as well as AI-generated wallpapers tailored to different moods and themes.

Wallet App Updates

Apple Wallet is expected to gain a bill-splitting feature that simplifies sharing expenses. Users may be able to scan receipts and automatically generate payment requests for friends or family members.

Another rumoured addition is a “Create a Pass” feature that allows users to convert physical items such as event tickets, membership cards, and passes into digital versions stored in Wallet.

Updates Across Apple Platforms

Beyond iOS 27, Apple is expected to bring AI-driven enhancements and performance improvements to macOS, iPadOS, visionOS, watchOS, and tvOS. Siri upgrades and additional Apple Intelligence features are likely to play a central role across the company’s software ecosystem.

WWDC 2026 Takes Centre Stage

As the keynote begins, attention will focus on how many of the rumoured features become reality and whether Apple’s long-awaited Siri transformation meets expectations. With artificial intelligence entering the stage, WWDC 2026 could mark a major step forward in Apple’s software strategy.
